A neurotic ad salesman can't get rid of his girlfriend, since she controls his largest account and refuses to renew a contract with his firm unless he remains with her. After being totally driven crazy by the situation, he is removed from the account and then is assigned to promote a psychiatrist's upcoming book. When he meets the female psychiatrist, he is enamored with her and, in spite of being under her care, the two fall in love with each other. Complications with the new relationship arise when the jilted former girlfriend re-enters the picture and a bit of information about the new girlfriend is suddenly revealed.
